Winners of the draft: “Detroit” and “Chicago”

“Detroit Red Wings”

Filip Zadina in terms of talent had to go into the top 3 draft pick. It is no coincidence that Ken Holland shone with happiness, commenting on the choice of a very bright Czech, who is quite capable of following in the footsteps of the magical David Pastrniak.

And almost guaranteed to immediately break into the “Red Wings”, and certainly will not be there superfluous. Philip is amazingly good when the puck is on his hook. He easily finds space, he has smart brushes. On the level of skill at this stage with him only Rasmus Dahlin and Andrei Svechnikov and can argue.

David Pastrniak

The big surprise was that Joseph Veleno fell so low – also a very talented player, whom Detroit did not count under the 30th number. He did not show serious progress this season, which was expected of him, given his “exceptional” status – he was allowed to perform at QMJHL at the age of 15, but remains a very gifted player who could well claim to be in the top 10. In a year he can make his way to the NHL. So this is another victory for the “Wings”, which simply needed to replenish the talent pool.

“Buffalo Sabers”

“Sabers” got potential leader of the club, and therefore could not fail to be on this list. Of course, there is not much merit Jason Botterill. “Blades” just won the lottery, the main prize in which was a defender, able in the future to reach the level of Niklas Lidstrem. Dalin has exactly the same makings. It seems that in his eyes hockey is slowing down. And that’s why he is so cool in making decisions with smart technical equipment and skating.

In general, “Buffalo” has stocked this draft by the defenders for many years to come. The main one after Dalin is the son of Chell Samuelsson, a class defender who feared nothing. Matthias is almost as big as his dad, and is also not afraid of anything.

“Chicago Blackhawks”

Excellent draft, stocking up with serious talents. Bouquist is very gifted and understands the game perfectly. It is no accident at the beginning of this season, he was quoted third in the pre-draft ratings.

Nicolas Bodin is also a very interesting guy. He needs to work on the defense and skating, but in the attack and so – the top defender, who can last two years in order to join the “Chicago”. Jake Wise has tremendous hands, a very interesting playmaker, who will be promoted to the right level at Boston University.

Niklas Nordgren is the best sniper of the junior world championship with an excellent cast. He only skating is not enough, but he already plays in the adult championship of Finland.

“Carolina Hurricanes”

Here too – it’s, by and large, the first choice. More than an obvious choice. Under which “Keynes” took Svechnikov. The most promising forward of the current Draft. He is ready to play in the NHL in terms of skill, and in terms of “physics.” Mentally? We’ll see. A new environment, a new way of life, everything around is new, previously inaccessible, a huge interest – all this can break, but it seems not Andrew. He is reasonable enough, he treats himself very calmly, and in general is emotionally stable. Yes, most likely, he is not the new Malkin or Ovechkin, but he promises to be a big star. By the way, sometimes a boring star. Efficiency, he definitely prefers efficiency. There are doubts about the other elections of “Carolina”, not counting Jack Drury – he directly threatens to grow into a center similar to his uncle Chris, an important part of the “Colorado” of the early 2000s, and Luke Henman, a fast playmaker. But to get straight from the draft of a hockey player who can immediately help the team – it’s worth a lot.

“New York Islanders”

Oliver Wahlstrom

Lou Lamorello by this draft took one more step to persuade John Tavares to stay. Firstly, Oliver Wahlstrom is the guy with the almost best cast among all selected. Secondly, Noah Dobson – a defender, which is better than the NHL only Dalin. Maybe Evan Bouchard – but we’ll see about that. And Noah can make his way to the Islanders in the fall. Yakub Shkarek right now – the best goalkeeper of this draft. Bodie Wilde was worthy of the first round. Jake Pivonka, the son of Michal Pivonki, is very much like his father. Yes, Philip Grubauer could not be obtained, but there are still options, and the future is well secured.

“Washington Capitals”

I got on this list not so much because of the draft, but because of an exchange with Colorado, as a result of which Philip Grubauer and Brooks Orpik left for Denver, which made it possible to unload the payment. And now – John Carlson signed a new contract. Soon, for sure, will sign and his partner in the pair Michal Kempni. And there’s Tom Wilson. And, perhaps, Jay Beagle with DeWante Smith-Pelli. The coach will be new, but the “Caps” will retain the line-up that led them to the Stanley Cup. Orpik is a loss, of course. Who would argue. Not just because he has the nickname “Dad”. But if you take purely game aspects, that is, Jonas Zigenthaler, potentially a stronger defender. Stunningly hardy and just as aggressive. Well, and Madison
